Type 2 diabetes is no longer a condition that you have to grin and bear. It does not need to slowly get worse. If you have type 2 diabetes; this is the time for you to take control of the condition and get back your life!

Turn It Around:

With the right eating plan, the signs and symptoms of type 2 diabetes can be reversed. That’s right, an eating plan where you favor foods with a low-GI… and yes you will need to spend a little bit of time learning which foods are high-GI, moderate GI and which ones are low-GI. The answers cannot be guessed.

Not How It Appears:

For example, popcorn is a great source of whole grains (good). And yes, it’s high in fiber (good); three whole cups are considered one serving size… but popcorn is a high-GI food with an index of 72 (high-GI foods are those with a score over 70)… so popcorn doesn’t qualify as a great food in a diabetic’s eating plan. It will cause your blood sugar levels to skyrocket, and once this happens, your insulin levels will also rise. And that spells trouble for type 2 diabetics who already have a problem with insulin resistance.

Puffed rice cakes in Australia were found to have a GI of 82 while puffed crispbread is 81. Puffed wheat and puffed rice breakfast cereals don’t fare any better… puffed wheat breakfast cereal registers at 80 on the 0 to 100 glycemic index scale and Puffed Rice Bubbles in Australia came in at 95! You might as well eat a bowl of sugar than a bowl of Puffed Rice Bubbles. Actually most cold breakfast foods have a high-GI!

Knowledge is Power:

When you have diabetes things like this matter; not knowing that little bit of information could be significant in preventing your own reversal of diabetes. A bowl of Puffed Rice Bubbles every morning may be a comfort food, but it’s not comforting to find out that by eating them, you’re extending the length of time that you have diabetes. And that in turn takes time off your lifespan.

Medium high or moderately high glycemic index foods are rated 55 to 70 on the GI scale. They include tortilla chips (63), potato chips (57), oat bran muffins (69), angel cake (67), pita bread (57), whole wheat bread (77), croissant (67), and rye bread (58). White bread is 70 on the glycemic index.

Thus, these foods can also be contributing to your diabetic downfall. Many people have no idea how carbohydrate foods are rated. Switching to a low-GI diet can mean weight loss, losing your belly fat and lowering your blood sugar levels. You will find your type 2 diabetes can be reversed.
