The Difference Between Healthy and Unhealthy Carbs For Diabetes Type 2

What is the difference between healthy and unhealthy carbs? How do the carbohydrates work in the body if you are a diabetic type 2? The body uses carbohydrates to make glucose which is your body’s energy source. The difference between healthy carbohydrates and unhealthy carbohydrates is the amount of fiber in the food to slow down the speed in which the foods increase your blood sugar.
Unhealthy carbohydrates are processed foods such as cakes, pies, sugar drinks, and cookies. These carbohydrates are easily digested and should be avoided because of their ability to raise your blood sugar and gain weight such as: white rice, cookies, cakes, sugar drinks, and other processed foods.
Healthy carbohydrates would be fruits, vegetables and whole-grain breads and cereal. Whole grain foods are: wild rice, brown rice, barley, rye, wheat, and even whole grain corn.
It is important to add the good carbs to your diet because they will provide you with the nutrients that you need. Add whole grains, fruits, and vegetables because they are good for your health.
Meal suggestions are:
Breakfast: whole grain hot cereals, whole wheat cold cereal and whole oats and fruits.
Lunch: whole grain bread for a sandwich, brown rice and fruit or vegetables.
Dinner: whole wheat pasta, or even half whole wheat and half white flour pasta with tomato sauce or beans and for dessert piece of fruit.
Eating healthy and changing your diet will be your natural way to reverse your diabetes. The diabetic diet meal plan has included the healthy carbohydrates to help you lower your blood sugar and help you lose weight.
