There is a nutritional meal plan treatment for type 2 diabetes. The major focus for type 2 diabetes is weight loss. It is estimated that over 90% of the type 2 diabetics are overweight.

There are corporations that have hired dieticians to create diabetes meal plan to lose as much as 30 to 40 pounds, lower your blood sugar and cholesterol. Meal plans usually consist of reduced calories by balancing the carbohydrates, proteins and fat.

The American Diabetes Association recommends 7% of calories come from saturated fat and protein 15-20% of your total calories. Carbohydrates will be whole grain bread, fruits, vegetables and increase in fiber. Carbohydrates provides 45 to 65% total calories. Fats will provide 25 to 35% of daily calories.

Weight loss will reduce your risk of heart disease which is a large risk for diabetics. There are several types of diets such as the diabetic exchange lists, carbohydrate counting and glycemic index.

Try to limit your meat to once a day. Eat fish and poultry more than red or processed meat. Cut down on your salt, add fiber, eat no more than four eggs a day, choose fresh fruit for dessert and avoid alcohol.

Our standard diet that is full of high fat dairy, processed meat, red meat, and refined grains are related to obesity. Change to the new diet that is full of fruit, vegetables, whole grains and fish and poultry.

Reverse your diabetes by strictly following the diabetes meal plan, bring your blood sugar down to normal, bring your cholesterol down and lose 30 to 40 pounds.

The medications that were given to you by your doctor will not cure your diabetes, but changing to the right meal plan can actually reverse your diabetes and lose those extra pounds as well.
