3 Alternative Diabetic Treatments

Granted, no one wants to develop diabetes. It is a horrible disease that can cause blindness, limb amputation, and even death. However, diabetes is a very manageable disease if you are smart about it. There are two types of diabetes, Type I and Type II. In this article I am going to be talking about 3 easy alternative diabetic treatments that you can do each and every day to control your diabetes. Before we discuss these alternative treatments lets differentiate between Type I and Type II. Type I diabetes is when the body does not produce insulin when carbohydrates are ingested. Therefore, the person has to manually inject insulin into the body to break down those carbohydrates into glucose and then be transported appropriately through out the body. Type II diabetes is when the body’s receptors over time do not recognize carbohydrates anymore. This can take many years to develop leaving the body insulin resistant. Because of this, the body won’t release as much insulin into the blood stream anymore, which causes a rise in blood sugar. Now there are 3 easy ways to help curb diabetes without the use of medication. The 3 methods are seen below.

Method 1: Exercise. When you exercise, you burn up what is called glycogen which is just carbohydrates stored within the muscle. You also burn up any glucose circulating in the blood stream. After exercise, there is a 2 hour window of opportunity to shuttle carbohydrates and nutrients into the muscle cell without it being turned into fat. This is when the body is insulin sensitive, the opposite of insulin resistant, which is what Type II diabetes basically is.

Method 2: The 2nd alternative diabetic treatment is a low carbohydrate diet. The reason the body produces insulin is help break down carbohydrates and shuttle them into the muscle cell. Most of the time, if we eat a high carbohydrate meal, most of it will go to our fat stores because there is no where else for the body to store the carbohydrates. This just becomes that much harder with diabetes because you would have a ton of circulating carbohydrates with no where to go because your body doesn’t produce insulin like it used to. So to prevent this from happening, consume a low carbohydrate diet. This will help eliminate high spikes in your blood sugar and make you more insulin sensitive.

Method 3: Add fiber to your diet. By adding fiber to your diet, this slows down the breakdown of foods in your stomach, which slow down the nutrients entering your blood stream. This is great because you do not want a huge rush of sugar when your a diabetic. So by consuming carbohydrate meals with fiber, you will greatly slow down the effects of the broken down carbohydrates entering your blood stream.

I hope these alternative diabetic treatments help you control your diabetes and possibly even reverse it.
