If you have a fancy watch with timers and alarms you can set reminder alarms for pre-meal testing as well as for two hours after meals.

Use bright colored “sticky notes” to remind you. Post them on the refrigerator and pantry door, cabinets, or wherever you will see it when you start to fix a meal or go for something to eat. A bright neon-purple or hot-pink note with a simple: DID YOU TEST? is a quick and simple reminder.

If you wear glasses to read you can put the same message on your glasses case. When you go out to eat, you will be reminded when you pull out your glasses to read the menu.

As we all know diabetes is a lifetime disease. It is not like H1N1 which might put our lives in danger but once it is cured then we are out of danger, as explained by Dr Durano (my doctor). Once we got it then we should know how to fight it, by the word fight, I mean that we should be able to control it since it is non-curable however it can be controlled by a good diet, regular exercises, and proper intake of medications.

A good example of what I am saying is my brother which died due to complications of diabetes. So that night I got up and did buy a soft drink but it was too late when I came home because he was asleep when I arrived. I was trying to wake him up and give him the soft drinks but it was too late. He died at 3 pm the next day. All of this could be prevented if only he had his blood sugar regularly taken.

A few decades ago, it was rare that you heard about people recovering from cancer, high blood pressure, extreme obesity, osteoporosis, and type 2 diabetes. Do you know it’s common to hear about it now?

Each time you lose 10% of your body weight, you will see a corresponding drop in your blood sugar level until it gets to normal. Don’t become anorexic in the process though!

With every drop in the level of your blood sugar, there should be a new smile on your face because you are getting closer and closer to reversing type 2 diabetes!

And if that’s not enough, losing 10% of your body weight doesn’t just help you regain control of your blood sugar level, it also helps regulate:

  • your blood pressure
  • it may lower your heart rate and cholesterol.
  • you will be able to move around more freely and your joints will ache a lot less.
  • and your energy levels will soar

The best part is that you will be sneaking glances at yourself in the mirror more frequently and saying to yourself, “I am looking good!” Just that alone can release chemicals called endorphins into your brain that will strengthen your immune system.
